This past weekend my friend Nadia Dwidar came down to visit me. I have known Nadia for many years, first meeting during high school swimming way back in the day. Nadia recently graduated from UCSB with a degree in sociology. She is now going to school in Fresno to pursue a career in nursing. Nadia and I get along great, and have a very strong common interest in swimming. One of the nice things about Pepperdine, is that when your friends and family come to visit we have a beautiful campus to show them. Not to mention, the whole ocean thing is quite a draw for people from Fresno, California!
On a side note... when I first came to Pepperdine, I thought that it was a joke when someone told me that deer often come onto Pepperdine’s campus. I figured it was the age-old story they told new students. Boy was I mistaken! Deer can be regularly seen on Pepperdine’s campus in the early morning and at dusk. They usually travel in groups of 5 or 6 at a time. While it can cause a driving safety issue (a roommate of mine wishing to remain nameless, recently had a driving incident involving a deer), the deer on campus are just another addition to the already impressive scenery.
