Blog 17 – Roommate Chronicles, “Brilliant Finance Student by Day, Buddy the Elf by Night…”

Finishing up the last of my three part series entitled, “The Roommate Chronicles”, I will now introduce you to Frankie Warren.  Frankie is from Rancho Santa Fe, California near San Diego.  When he is around, Frankie is one of my best friends here at Pepperdine.

Frankie is 23 years old and attended Boston College for his undergrad. During his undergraduate studies Frankie took somewhat of an academic tour of majors, including physics, math, and English before finally selecting Economics, with a concentration in Economic Growth in Developing Nations. Frankie graduated from Boston College in the spring of 2007.  Frankie decided upon business because he felt that it was the perfect application of his social and analytical skill sets.

Frankie chose to attend Pepperdine because he wanted to begin his career in southern California near his family. One of the main reasons Frankie selected Pepperdine was the strong alumni network.  At Pepperdine, Frankie is known as one of the top students. Frankie scored a 740 on the GMAT, and subsequently was offered a full academic scholarship. In school, Frankie is very involved with the club Net Impact. Net Impact is a global network of leaders who are changing the world through business, with an emphasis on corporate social responsibility. Frankie recently got back from a Net Impact conference at Wharton’s Business School in Philadelphia.

Frankie’s working background is in the finance industry, having held the positions staff accountant, appraisal trainee and financial analyst at La Jolla Bank. He comes from a banking family background and wants to continue his career working in finance with a technology-based company. While Frankie may be more skilled with finance and have more of a finance background, technology is his true passion. A devoted Apple computer lover and strong proponent of social media sites, Frankie is active on many Internet forums and blogs.

Speaking of technology, Frankie is currently in the process of designing, developing and launching an e-commerce web site. He has partnered with his long time friend and attorney Colin Fleming. I wish I could tell you more about it, but every time he tries to explain it to me the conversation quickly gets over my head. The amount of effort and energy he puts into his entrepreneurial project outside the classroom is very impressive.

During Frankie’s free time, he enjoys roller hockey and spinning electro house music on his turntables. On a more objective note, cleaning his room always seems to be on the list of things for him to do! He enjoys watching the LA Lakers and the San Diego Chargers when he gets the time or is procrastinating on his homework. His laid back and easygoing attitude defines his friendly and personable personality. Although his laid back first impression can be deceiving, Frankie is an incredibly talented Pepperdine MBA student with a bright future in whatever he plans on pursuing.
