Continuing on the second of my three part series entitled “The Roommate Chronicles”, today I introduce to you Wei Kong, affectionately known in our apartment as Kung Fu Panda!
Wei goes by a variety of names, including “Wei”, “Kong Wei”, “Wei Kong” and William. Traditionally in China, a person’s friends call them by their last name first and then their first name. For simplicity’s sake, in this entry I will refer to him as William.
William is 26 years old and grew up in Tianjin, China where his family owns an exporting business. He attended undergraduate at Fudan University in Shanghai China, earning his Bachelor of Science in Material Engineering.
His technical background in engineering allowed him to work for TSMC, also known as Twain Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation. He worked for two years as a process engineer in their total quality management sector.
William is completing his MBA because he wants to make a career change in his life. He wants to change from his engineering and technical background, and pursue a career in finance. At Pepperdine he has a finance concentration and is interested in learning more about the industry. In the future William would like to work in a major city such as New York, London or Hong Kong. When asked why he chose Pepperdine, he listed the following reasons:
Great View
Good Reputation
He wanted to visit California
Strong Alumni Network
William is a very friendly and logical person. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading and comedy movies. Recently, he earned his California Driver’s License and bought a Honda Accord. He also took a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon over our session break. He as seen as a leader figure of the Chinese students living on campus, always being a go-to person for help. Anytime someone needs help, you can be assured that William’s response will include, “No Problem, No Problem!” We love our Kung Fu Panda!!
